Hosting Systems Manager

Team Description & Purpose of Role
Based at Interoute’s central operations centres in Prague and Sofia, this role is about Hosting Engineering Release to Operations new products and services. This includes Standardisation of Datacentre Operations to improve efficiency. Responsible for the routine maintenance and in-life changes to complex shared central systems.
Work closely with Service Delivery, Project Management, Engineering and Operation teams to ensure the efficient, cost-effective support and maintenance of high-quality hosting services to external and internal customers.
Job Responsibilties
The candidate is sufficiently technical in that he/she understands complex and integrated product and service offerings in the dedicated hosting, dedicated server and managed hosting markets.
Manage local engineering and administration activities as defined by the the central management team.
Effectively manage staff to ensure that coverage is provided on a 24/7 basis.
Ensure efficent transition of hosting products into operations.
Assists in the production of hosting operational documents, processes and work instructions
Liaises closely with Central Hosting Engineering to keep up to date on developments, and feed back information gained from Operations.
Gather and maintain a detailed knowledge of the hosting product portfolio.
Actively participates in regular hosting technology meetings.
Efficent escalation of issues and risks to central management.
Support ISO 27001 and equivalent certification requirements where necessary.
Applies ITIL methodology to the role and ensure that the local team conform to standards and processes.
Adheres to Interoute security policies and report incidents to the appropriate operations functions.
Improves hosting operational processes and procedures when needed as part of our Continual Process Improvement (CPI)
Local management point of contact for Service Delivery, Sales Engineering, Project Management and In-Country Datacentre teams for issues related to Hosting service design, implementation, test and delivery of customer solutions.
Manage performance against KPI measure and provide regular reporting on the agreed measures.
Prompt identification of issues and risks which may impact delivery timescales or quality and escalate as required.
Inspirational leadership of the local technical team, ensuring a high quality of service is delivered.
Able to work on and manage a shift based resource model to provide 24/7 coverage.
Work on assigned tasks and projects as directed by senior management.
Experience Required
Excellent man management experience gained within a complex technical environment. Solid understanding of standard client/server, networking, and Internet fundamentals and a superior knowledge delivering complex solutions within medium to large environments.
In depth knowledge of the following:
VMware best practice design and optimization (ESX 3.5, vSphere, ESXi)
Windows 2003 & 2008.
Good Cisco Switching and routing
LAN / WAN architecture
Security Products (Cisco and Checkpoint)
Hosting hardware, servers, SANs, blades
Scripting knowledge (perl, shell, vbscript, powershell)
SQL Server, Oracle, MS Exchange, AD, replication technologies
UNIX (Redhat, Solaris)
Veritas Netbackup
Netapp Storage Solutions
Microsoft SCOM, SNMP, SCOM Connectors and Connector Framework
4-5+ years of experience in managing technical teams
Minimum 3 years experience in an International environment and in a technical engineering environment
Able to communicate in fluent English
Demonstrated ability to matrix manage across the business to achieve maximum results for clients.
Significant experience in managing escalated incidents through to resolution.
Ability to operate within an engineering and Senior Management environment.
Certification in ITIL to Foundation level or above would be a distinct advantage.
