Lead Project Manager

Team Description & Purpose of Role

The Regional Program Office is composed of highly-skilled individuals covering project & service management. The team work in close collaboration with Sales, Field and Central Operational teams to ensure highest quality in the delivery and support of customer service solutions.

As a Senior Project Manager the objective is to take the role of Project Directorship – to be wholly responsible to Customer and Interoute for the successful implementation of large International projects to Cost, Time and Specification. To be the primary interface with Customer for Project implementation. The role may require to take complete ownership from pre-sales to full operational handover for Interoute’s major customer projects.

Job Responsibilties

• Customer Management – Ensures that customer contractual commitments are met and that expectations are managed throughout projects. Establishes early dialogue with customers to ensure expectations related to implementation are appropriately managed. Strong control of change management & scope creep for demanding projects.
• Project Management – Effectively monitor and control the performance of all projects managed at any one time. Ensure that commercial and technical issues are proactively identified and effectively managed. Reports regularly on progress against plan to all relevant stakeholders. Implements effective processes to support the professional and smooth implementation of all projects.
• People Management - Develops and motivates a highly professional (initially matrix) project management team which is fully aware of both the commercial and technical drivers of the projects they are responsible for. Regularly reviews performance to ensure that both individual and team performance is maximised.
• Supplier Management – Proactively manages the performance of key suppliers to ensure effective project delivery and that costs are in accordance with agreed project plans. Ensures strong communication channels are in place at all stages of the project.
• Resource Management – Effectively manages project resources to secure successful implementation on time and within budget.
• Matrix management of Implementation and engineering teams along with pre sale Bid Support for large opportunities enhancing win chance and ensuring all risks are backed off. Build excellent relationships with counterparts in these “Virtual Teams.”
• Management reporting: adhere to internal weekly reports. Analyse and identify trends to be addressed by senior management.

Occasional international travel may be required (e.g. for customer meetings).

Experience Required

• Minimum 10+ years experience in the IT and telecom industry with a proven track record operating at senior/executive levels in different disciplines or similar
• 3+ years experience in Project Management of Major Customer Projects reporting to executive level.
• Proven track record in the successful project management of large Enterprise customer on a global scale.
• Experience in delivering projects in line with Interoute’s product portfolio.
• Previous experience in successfully implementing process & methodologies driving continuous improvements
• Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project.
• Technical qualification in an IT or Engineering discipline in combination with an in-depth understandeing of business economics
• At least one of Prince2, APM, PMI Qualification. PROPS knowledge is highly desirable
• ITIL Qualifications (highly desirable)
