System Administrator (Monitoring)

Team Description & Purpose of Role
The candidate will support and maintain the Interoute Hosting platforms, responsible for delivering Microsoft Operations Management (SCOM/MOM) Management technology to support their customers.
This person will be responsible for delivering Microsoft Operations Management (SCOM/MOM) support in various Enterprise environments.
Job Responsibilties
• Routine Maintenance tasks on Customer solutions and Shared Interoute platforms as defined by Hosting Engineering.
• Testing of proposed changes on customer Hosting solutions and subsequent implementation of changes (changes ranging from new servers or services to OS upgrades etc.) in cooperation with Implementation Account Managers and the customer.
• Technical point of contact for Service Delivery, Sales Engineering, Project Management and In-Country Datacentre teams for issues related to Hosting service design, implementation, test and delivery of customer solutions.
• Prompt identification of issues which may impact delivery timescales or quality.
• Pro-active diagnoses and fix of technical issues arising during provision of, and changes to, complex Hosting solutions.
• Pro-active escalation, follow-through and liaison with appropriate departments to resolve technical issues which may impact delivery timescales or quality. Creation of contingency plans to minimise such risks.
• Production of quality documentation to reflect changes to solutions.
Experience Required
Solid understanding of standard client/server, networking, and Internet fundamentals and a superior knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in System Center Operations Manager with experience in managing medium to large environments. The candidate should be able to troubleshoot all aspects of SCOM effectively and understand the product configuration, flow and logging in detail.
The candidate should understand fully the base OS and SCOM Management Packs and be able to discuss in detail at least one of the following Management Packs: Active Directory, Exchange, IIS or SQL. HP and Netapp including configuration, tuning and customization. In addition, experience in other Microsoft Management technologies, including Active Directory services (AD), System Center Essentials and WSUS is desired.
Secondary expertise in at least one of the following: Windows server Operating Systems, clustering, scripting e.g. VB or Powershell, SQL- both management and querying, WMI and IIS. Knowledge of the following would be advantageous: SCOM Solution Accelerators, SNMP, SCOM Connectors and the SCOM Connector Framework, and the model based architecture in SCOM 2007.
An advantage would be if the candidate has experience with EMC IONIX, our main Network monitoring platform.
